The Tree Boss is the demo’s main gate. It rewards Sekiro-style rhythm: identify slow heavies you can parry, punish openings, and respect the purple projectile attack that punishes greedy rolling.
Difficulty: HardBefore you start
- Clear tutorial enemies with minimal damage so you enter the fight with consumables if available.
- Observe one full attack cycle before committing to parries—learn which swings are fast vs telegraphed.
- Download v0.1.10 if you are on Web and the fight feels overtuned—damage was tuned down slightly.
Step-by-step checkpoints
Phase 1: Opening patterns
- Stay mid-range until you recognize the boss’s basic melee chain.
- Parry the slow, glowing heavies—trying to dodge everything will drain stamina and positioning.
- Heal only after you create distance following a successful punish window.
Phase 2: Purple projectile attack
- When the purple attack telegraphs, prioritize survival over damage—this is the most common wipe cause.
- Do not roll inward through the projectile line; sidestep or block if you are unsure of i-frames.
- v0.1.10 reduced this attack’s speed slightly—relearn timing if you played an older build.
Phase 3: Closing the fight
- Boss pressure increases—stick to parries you have confirmed, not speculative ones.
- Save aggressive combo extensions for after a successful parry stagger.
- If you die repeatedly to one move, practice that tell alone in a fresh run instead of full DPS racing.
After v0.1.10 balance tweaks
- Tree Boss damage was reduced— longer survival windows for learning.
- Purple attack speed was reduced— slightly more time to react.
- Tutorial defense prompts were improved— new players should replay tutorial if stuck.
Common mistakes & fixes

| Healing during boss combo strings | Wait for a hard reset after you parry or the boss whiffs a big swing. |
| Chasing DPS during purple attack setup | Reset positioning when you see the purple tell—greed kills runs. |
| Ignoring audio/visual wind-up cues | Turn on sound and watch the weapon/body wind-up, not just HP bars. |
Clear checklist
- Recognized at least one guaranteed parry window per boss cycle.
- Survived the purple attack pattern multiple times in one run.
- Used healing only in safe gaps, not mid-combo.
- Defeated the Tree Boss to complete the demo.
Beating the Tree Boss proves you understand the defensive loop the full game will expand on—expect harder enemies in v0.2.
Extra notes
Defeat scenes are part of the R18 design. Combat mastery reduces how often they trigger; gallery replay is planned for a future demo update.
